I made this desk and chair from a kit set and I absolutely love them! It took me quite a while to make all the drawers of the desk work properly, so you can open and close them easily.

I also love the chair. I needed lots of patience to get the back right and fit it all together so it looks good.

  1. I have used bar soap on drawers to help them. Anywhere wood rubs wood, use one of those little soaps from a hotel, it acts like a wax and embeds in the wood grain and doesnt swell the wood like oils or any liquids would :)

  3. Thanks for the tip with the soap. It's good to know for any more drawers I'm going to make.

  4. It looks really great. I have a kit for a rolltop desk but have been afraid to try it.

  5. Doreen, I've seen your projects and I'm confident that you can do it! Just give it a go. One tip though, treat the wood before you glue it together. I glued my first piece of furniture together before I stained the wood and it's still unfinished....
